Just wondering.. who here has the SAT Online Course?

Who has the SAT Online Course and has looked at/finished some of the practice 'passage-reading' quizzes?

What are your opinions on these? It looks like I'm doing much worse on these than on actual blue book tests. Maybe I can't read well from the computer screen? I think the questions might just be trickier than they are in TCB blue book. Ugh.. help

krabble come online on AIM :-D

krabble, I wouldn't be surprised if the online course tests are statistically more difficult than the blue book tests. I've taken them all. While I wouldn't say they are "harder" per se, they are definitely not as consistent as the blue book tests. Think about it. College Board had to rush to put the new SAT together. The tests they had the most confidence in became the real SAT's, the next best went into the blue book, and the online course tests are the deformed stepchildren.

Also, if it is CR that you're scoring much lower on, definitely do not take the online course tests actually sitting at your computer. Take the option to print them out.

Thank you so much for the reassurance 2400SAT. I was concerned that all the progress I had been making recently went down the drain when I did a quiz yesterday!

Yeah, I think it would be best for me to print it out, and I've noticed that the explanations will not do a very good job explaining. For example, "Answer A is correct because of [blah blah]... Answer B is incorrect because it does not have [blah blah].."

Hopefully printing these questions out will help me concentrate. Again, thank you for the reassurance.

how many practice tests come with the online course??

6 - 1 of them being the March exam

are they realistic?

So far, I've taken the quizzes, and 2400SAT's logic about them definitely makes sense. The quizzes 'can' be helpful, but don't get discouraged if you don't get them all right. The way they derive their answers are a little different from the actual SAT. As for the practice tests, I would assume that these are worth it, since it's the closest thing you can come to a real SAT (next to the blue book tests).

Which one of the six practice tests is the March exam?

I think the last one - has a * that says Test is from March or w.ev

The March 05 SAT is the free Pre-test (before the 6 CB online course ones). But the last of the 6 in the course is the previous (04-05) free test.

I also noticed that the Online Course tests are not as consistent as the Blue Book tests. I went from a 2380 on the March 05 Pre-test to a 2300 (using the March 05 scale) on the first test of the course only a week later. If I took the middle of the ranges given it would have been a 2260 (20 points lower than my real SAT score from May, after quite a lot of prep).

Well, I purchased the SAT Online Course today, so I'll see what it's like.

Flipsta_G, did you check out the online quizzes from the course?

I found them to be inaccurate with the blue book test questions. If anyone has the time, check them out (especially the reading passages) and tell me what you think.

If anyone wants to private message me about a method of legaling obtaining the six tests, then I will tell him.

This method involves the concept of freeriding and the desire of the fiftieth state in the nation in terms of SAT scores to desperate defeat the forty-ninth.

fabrizio, I don't think you should go into that, considering the previous thread was shut down...

Don't do it fabrizio
