Your audition matters alot more than your grades. If you have the most fabulous audition of your entire life and your grades are only so-so or even less than so-so you'll probably still get in because you're a fabulous actress. I can't give you an exact GPA or SAT score but have a good audition and you're in.

Actually, sopranosweety(cute name!), that's not really true. I have a D at Tisch and I can tell you that admissions is based on academics and the artistic review/audition. They are equally weighted so you need both good academics and a great audition. The year she auditioned, there were approximately 3000 kids who auditioned for drama and about 300 were admitted. That year, as I said in another thread, the Tisch average SAT score was second only to Stern's. What my D has found is that most of her classmates are excellent students academically as well as talented artistically. Many are double majoring in CAS. So no, a good audition alone will not get you in.

I'm worried about the dates of auditions. I will have to audition where I live (since flying up is too much right now), and NYU is supposed to come here in February. THat's kind of late. Won't they already have accepted a lot of people into Tisch by then? Also, i'd be finding out about my admissions pretty late (I assume). Is auditioning late going to be really negative on my chances? I know they'll have given out most, if not all, of their fin. aid by then.

marissal, financial aid and audition dates are not related. There is some anecdotal evidence that those who audition at NYU have a higher acceptance rate than those who audition regionally. I think that's true of most programs, but if you can't make it to the city then there's not much that can be done about that. It's true that they may have seen lots of auditionees that they want by February. Auditioning early is usually preferable but there's no difference in f/a. Financial aid is not calculated until after you are accepted by the admissions committee both in Tisch and in the admissions office. As for scholarships, there are very few in Tisch unfortunately, and they are for academics only, not talent, so they are unrelated to the auditions.

To my knowledge, all RD auditions for Tisch are held in Feb. (or at least the on campus ones are). So, having a Feb. audition is NOT late. The ED auditions were in Nov. So, as long as you are amongst the RD applicant pool, I would not fret about a Feb. audition date as that is all they offer for RD. As a point of reference, my D is auditioning for Tisch AT Tisch and has a Feb. 12 audition date. She wanted one of the advanced dance audition dates and there are ONLY two of these and both of those are in Feb. Even without the dance audition, a regular audition would have also taken place in Feb. for RD.

Hope that helps.

Thank you to both of you for the information!
