just wondering

what prep book will give me real insight as to how hard sections are b/c on the ACT website the sample science tests are ridiculously easy; however in Barrons, rea, and kaplan the science sections are more difficult...so which should i rely on

Obviously the ones that are more difficult.

In agreement

PR has pretty accurate practice tests!

Get the Real ACT book. It has actual tests. You can also order two previous tests and view another online from the ACT corporation. That is, IMO, the best way to gauge difficulty and strategize accordingly.

I concur with LAGator. However, I felt that the REAL ACT book tests were slightly easier than the real one. I got 31 on the tests I took in the REAL ACT book and a 29 on the PR tests. When I took the actual test, I got a 29 too!
