Just wondering...

I was wondering if anyone knows, or has an idea, if Scripps considers the number of students applying from a school. There are probably aound 7 girls applying from my school, all extremely qualified students, and I'm really hoping that wont negatively affect any of us because Scripps is definitely a top choice for all of us.

You can never say for sure but that certainly builds the odds against you. It's hard because they will probably only let so many people from one school and I don't think all 7 will be admitted although this depends on the size of your school. Scripps is just soooo tiny that they will probably look for more diversity from location. Then again, if your from California applying to a California school there will already be a lot of people applying from there so diversity within schools isn't as much of an issue. Whatever happens, good luck!

I really have no answer to your question. But I assume it would make things more competitive because I know Scripps likes diversity and stuff and likes students from different areas. (I think) not exactly sure........ but just curious, why are so many people from your school applying?

The diversity of location is an interesting question. My d loves Scripps. From an online resource our school has, it looks like maybe 3 woman from her school have applied there in the past 6 years. We're in MA, so it (fingers crossed), may work to her advantage. On the other hand, 37 kids from her 450 person class have applied to nearby Tufts this year. And 43 to Boston College.

So I'm hoping it helps her, but I don't want it to hurt someone else like rosiebee.

Actually, the online system the school uses is interesting. We can see that 3 people applied to Claremont McKenna from her school. She's one, and she knows who one of the others is because - she interviewed with his dad, who's an alum. Which made for an interesting interview, knowing his son was also applying.

I don't know why so many people from my school are applying. No one went to any of the Claremont Colleges from my school last year, but I guess information on them just got around. We all know each other but, for the most part, didn't know any other people were applying until after we all applied. I thought it was quite strange that so many are applying...but I guess since I'm from California it is more well known.

hey rosiebee! i was wondering if the 7 girls at your school found out if they were accepted or rejected yet..im curious about this now as i already know of 2 other girls in my class of 250 applying to scripps! thanx :)

Four of us got in :) , and the other three were wait listed :( my best friend included :( so even though I got in I'm really bummed. I'm currently trying to convince her to stay on the wait list... The girls who got wait listed really deserved to get in though, so I have a feeling that the number of us applying from my school might have hurt them. Scripps is just such a small school. Two others shouldn't make a difference though.
