I don’t know anything about most of those schools. Can’t say I have any idea how someone could give you a reasonable “chance” anyways.

Good luck though and don’t let the process stress you out.

^ Hey, I hear that it is harder to get a 4.0 at a top 30 school and that’s why there are kids who end up with a 3.5 or 3.6 GPA.
However, it is not as difficult to get a 4.0 at a State University.
So I’m worried that when applying to graduate schools, the 3.5 prestigious student > 4.0 from a state college.

Hey I really just wanted to tell you that even though you may read stories about how college is miserable for some people (probably half are my stories), it really doesnt have to be. There are actually alot of thing in my life that are making college really hard for me (not just academics). Not to make it sound so simple (since it really isnt), but as long as you are willing to work, learn from your mistakes, and give your 110% effort, then you should do well

I took one AP class and no exams, doing fine in college.

hey man, if you’re worrying now then I think you’re going to do fine.

Here’s a brighter story for you, I took 5 AP’s, failed 2 of them, got 1600/2400 SAT’s and a 2.8 GPA(always told I was smart but didn’t work hard enough… I think they tell that to everyone who underachieves lol???), ended up at the University of Tampa, got a 3.7 first semester, and so far this semester am on track for a 4.0.

Basically, I only applied to college because all my friends did (since I went to one of the most competitive private schools in the world) and because I did not want to disappoint my parents and also just because I didn’t know what else I could possibly do since I didn’t want some crap job. In college though, I’ve been put in a different environment, I actually kind of enjoy studying and I see a purpose to getting good grades. I’m actually thinking of going to law school now when before I would’ve never considered continuing my education beyond undergrad.

HopefulEagle, you’re fine. I’m a senior in a NYC public high school and I know many friends who have been accepted to those schools. Indeed your stats may not be up to par for a top private university but you can definitely get in. Also make sure your essays are outstanding, then you do have a shot at Bing as well.
good luck :)

I know I can get into College, but I was just concerned about my reputation at being at a state university or city college. I told justtotalk that wouldn’t it be a little better if I was at a top university with a grade deflation instead because when one applies to graduate schools, the 3.5 at a top 30 college is heavily greater than a 4.0 at State University since 4.0 is very difficult to get at a top college compared to getting it at a State University.

Says who? Both are very impressive.

Well a guy said that a 3.5 at Emory in PreMed or No PreMed is better than a 4.0 SUNYer.

It doesnt matter what college you go to, as long as you go to an accredited college and get your degree

Grades aren’t everything man.

Bump… justtotalk, what do you think? (refer to last page)

Bump…

Bump <10char>
