I've played JV hockey for the last three years for one of the best public high school hockey programs in my state (if not, the best). We lost a lot of players this past graduating class, but we also have three or four varsity-level freshmen on the team this year. As it stands, I'm likely to make varsity, but not certain. I'm not the greatest player in the program, but I've put in a lot of commitment to the sport and usually all seniors make the team. That said, the freshmen class and the fact that my coach is committed to winning above all else, I'm increasingly frightened that I may get cut.

Unfortunately, I won't know where I stand until late November, which is later than my November 1st early action deadline. I was wondering how I should put down hockey as an extracurricular on my application. On the Common App, I put all four years of participation and made my "Position/Leadership" "JV/Varsity Player." I tried to explain the situation in the "Details" box, but I ran out of room. Should I put that in the writing section under additional information or try something else?
