k this forum is soo depressing

I walked out of the SATs thinking i'm getting 2200+ for sure, now thx to you guys, my saturday night is ruined.

chill out people, you can't change anything now anyways

That's why I never come to this part of cc after I take one of those tests, because I start freaking out and it usually isn't as bad as I think anyways.

yeah and you cant even remember what you put. ur like OH i remember that question. did i put 1 or 1.2 or 1.3? hmm. i understand people are curious but i mean, what can you do.

winstonchurchill (do you live in maryland?) - at least you completed the test in a confident matter :) thats really all that counts. im sure u did fabulously!

well at least you're mentally prepared for whatever score you're going to get =) it doesnt really matter after you take the test, the people on CC dont affect your SAT score once you've already taken the SAT.. all you can do is stress about it afterwards, but whats the point in that? it won't help your score. just chill and relax a bit. ^^

All I want to do now is kill myself now because now I know I will never be anything in life

I mostly came to see which answers I got right (to build some confidence), but that obviously did not work lol.. ugh.. o well..

P.S.- I'm pretty sure I did as bad as I am predicting, if not worse..

nothing's worse than getting 5 wrong in math after getting

an 800 in may... (SAT I)

What you said is 100% untrue. One test, or even several tests, will have virtually no effect on the course of your life, unless you let them. You are much more than that piece of paper. Your hard work in school, your ECs, your energy, and your resilience are what a college also want to see. Look for a school that appreciates the beauty of you.

In life, it's not how you deal with success, it's how you deal with near-misses, and set-backs, and failures that really matter. There's a saying, "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." So what if you didn't have the best test day. So what if your score is lower than expected. Pick yourself up, try again...and if it's still not on target, make another plan. Sometimes those unanticipated twists in the road lead you to something better, lead you to learn more about yourself than you ever could have imagined. And it's that journey of self-discovery that makes you unique and special.

Don't ever feel that you're failing...don't ever quit. You are a very special person with very special talents. Learn to adapt and to capitalize on new opportunities that are presented to you. And, remember the opportunities don't have to be impressive ones for you to shine. Be yourself, be optimistic, and, above all, be kind to yourself. You're worth it!

Now, go forth, and dazzle 'em! OB

Remember, kiddo, colleges will only consider your best score. So, nothing's lost! You're doing fine! Only you can limit your future...not those dumb scores. Scores don't change who you are. Please don't frustrate yourself...just continue on to the bright future that's out there for you. There are lots of kids with far lesser scores that have done exceptionally well. You've done very well. Be kind to yourself! Best wishes, OB

Thanks OrangeBlossom!

I was actually contemplating over that recently.. perhaps would have written something like that in a college essay but realized it may seem a little cliche. I definitely will not allow this to prevent me from applying to the colleges that I want to attend, but it's hard to ignore the uneasy feeling of being unconfident.

P.S.- O wait.. you were talking to altf4 and girlfriendmb lol..

Like I have told your friends on this thread...please don't worry. You will do fine. Think of all the many things you have accomplished in your short life. One test (or even more) can't erase any of that. Your great drive, and energy, and enthusiasm have brought you to this place. This is only a minor blip in the road, at best. Make your plans and shine. You guys are all great! OB

How can I show this to colleges? I'm sure there are many in the same situation as me (good grades.. not so good test scores). :(

Everyone's telling us not to worry because it's just a test. Yes, but it's the first giant test so it'll always be a milestone. Don't forget, parents - we don't have college finals, bill payments, and jobs to compare it to. LOL.

My comments were meant for you too.

In life, you'll encounter MANY setbacks and failures. Confront each knowing that you are smart and you are strong. I remember many times in my life that I gave a project my all, only to fall flat on my face...retreating to the ladies room to whimper (I was too professional to let anyone see the stress), knowing that I was bright enough and smart enough and wondering how "that" could have happened to me. But each time, I came back stronger and better. Take whatever life dishes out (less than perfect scores included...and who says you need to be perfect to be amazing...), and press ahead with your plans. You will make it...maybe not always in the way you envision...but you will always make it! I have no doubt, at all. OB

Your point is well taken. However, there will be a perfectly wonderful college out there for you...one that will take you exactly where you want to go. This silly idea just came into my head...colleges are sorta like prom gowns (...hope you all are girls). There are quite a few that would suit you just fine. You agonize over the selection, but in the end, it's the prom (college years) you'll remember, not gown (college) shopping. Try to look beyond these tests to the great future that's just around the corner. I know it's difficult sometimes. OB

Yes, there may be a number of kiddos out there with scores and grades like yours, but there is only one you. That's how you set yourself apart. Radiate who you are. Not everyone will get into the top-tier schools of their choice, but that's really no big loss, because there are lots of really great schools out there that will make you very happy and give you a great education. Try to broaden your search...pick out a nice variety of reach, match, and safety schools (and make sure you would be happy attending any of them). You'll be so surprised how very happy your college years will be. Please try not to worry unnecessarily. And never be ashamed of your best efforts in life. Remember, you are human...and that's the quality that makes you attractive to colleges. Numbers are numbers. You are special! OB

I'm a guy. But I've worn dresses before, so I completely understand. I don't think collegeconfidential would be the same if there weren't heaps of kids agonizing about one wrong answer on a meaningless test.

Mind you, some of these people were agonizing over a 2350, but what can you do.

Hey, Klinger! :O) Are you even old enough to have seen "Mash"?

Commiserating is great! Just keep it real...and happy!
