I am currently enrolled at CAVA as a 10th grader and found out they have a middle/early college program called CAVA2college to earn college and HS credits together @ Norco College for free! I had a few questions regarding the program and your experience. Please address my question, thanks!
Would you reccomend this program?
How was your experience?
how many credits can you take per semester?
are courses transferbale to UC’s?
does it help with college admissions?
are their any courses for students interested in pshcology?
is it possible to take 11 credits/semester?
is their a wide variety of classes?
and it there anything else important I should know?
I am really stressed since I would really like to know about someone’s experience with Cava2college, so I would really appreciate an answer to my questions. Thankyou!
you guys dont have to answer all these questions, u can just give a review cause i know its a lot of questions but i rlly would appreciate it
I’m a bit late to this, but I have some experience so I figured I might as well impart my knowledge.
I was enrolled in CAVA from Kindergarten to senior year, so I have a lot of experience with K12. Additionally, I was apart of CAVA2College my senior year, and I truly enjoyed it. I didn’t realize it at the time, but getting a couple of college classes done ahead of time was SO helpful, it definitely lightened my college load. I did have some issues with one particular class, as the professor required a $100+ textbook that I couldn’t afford, but that was not the fault of CAVA2College, and if I remember correctly I believe they reimbursed me for it? Don’t quote me on that. But I truly enjoyed being apart of CAVA2College. My homeroom teacher also had regular sessions to help us with our college plans and had us do a lot of research into our college choices which was really helpful. Overall I liked it.
I can’t say too much about all of the other questions considering that I did not go straight into a 4-year university after high school, instead I ended up attending a CC. But, from my knowledge the courses, unless otherwise stated, are transferable to UCs. I believe there is a term limit of some kind, though I do not know what exactly it is. Taking 11 units, combined with your normal high school class load definitely sounds like it would be prohibited though, I’d imagine the limit might be 5 or 6 units, but even that seems like it might be pushing it. As far as classes go, I actually don’t know about the classes that are offered for CAVA2College. When I was apart of the program it was pretty new on our CAVA campus, and so I only remember a handful of courses being offered. I’m not sure if that’s changed or not. But like I said, in terms of questions about credits and classes, take everything I say with a grain of salt, because I’m not entirely sure if anything has changed since I was last apart of the program. I’d probably ask your guidance counselor or homeroom teacher about that.
In terms of personal experience though, I would definitely recommend the program. I know this post is a bit late, but you mentioned your a 10th grader and I think CAVA2College is only for 11th grade and up, so you should still have time. Hope this helped!
