Ka-ching--UW getting up to $100M for engineering school

You might want to rethink the thread title.

No mention of whether any of the money will be used to increase capacity in the various engineering majors which currently admit more students than they have capacity for and then weed them out using college GPA thresholds as high as 3.5.

Ha, I didn’t even make the connection until you mentioned this.

Serious question: Given that ka-ching clearly represents the sound of money, would anyone be offended by this?

Nope. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEe3hBXZEyI

ucbalumnus Not everyone is cut out for engineering. No matter how they do it usually a good percent do not finish in engineering. Do we really want 2.0 GPA engineers building bridges and high rises?

Well, 2.8-3.0 in pre-requisites should be fine and plenty of support rather than weedout would also be a positive step.
