<p>the Ashe center will charge you a copay for all of your visits if you don't have SHIP, but they are generally pretty reasonable copays (~$20 or so, IIRC). </p>
<p>Kaiser is an HMO, which means that you must use their facilities/plan physicians to get insurance-covered medical care. Kaiser is huge and have their own hospitals, so you pretty much are relegated to using those if you want to see a doctor. As people have said, there are several Kaiser facilities in LA. The closest one I know of is right off of the 10 freeway not too far east of the 405 and UCLA.
UCLA Medical Center does not accept Kaiser insurance. They do, however, accept it for ER visits. Any health insurance plan will cover emergency expenses at any hospital (including ambulance transport fees), so if you need to go to the ER, definitely use UCLA's.</p>
