KAIST (Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology)

Hi. I’m wondering whether I would have a good chance of getting into the engineering (mechanical) major with the current stats. I have always wanted to open up my college selection, hence the college I am looking at, and have always wanted to visit/stay somewhere in Asia.

ACT Composite 31
15+ AP Tests (Have taken 9 so far; including Calculus BC)
5.2 GPA (Weighted)
4.0 GPA (Unweighted)
Top 7% of my class (20ish out of almost 600 students)

Accomplishments:
Semifinalist at FTC World’s
Multiple clubs such as NHS (National Honor Society)

I cordially thank any response.

I think FTC is a good extracurricular (you could also elaborate on it on the essay section?).
Your GPA is good, but your ACT needs improvement.

KAIST is more lenient with international students’ applications than with domestic students, so I think you have a very good chance. Your stats are good, but like the other poster said, getting a few extra points on your ACT can’t hurt. But other than that, your high GPA gives you a definite advantage, and be sure to elaborate on your extracurricular accomplishments when given the chance. Good luck!
