Which should I choose? Money really isn't that big an issue.

Only for prestige whores.

I know two things about Kalamazoo:

1) It's got a great listing in Loren Pope's "Colleges that Change Lives"

2) We play them in sports :-)

Other than that, there are many, many, many, many things that we don't know about you that could help you make a decision. Which is giving you more aid? Do you want small or big? Both K-zoo and Chicago have distinct educational philosophies. Which works for you? Neither red nor blue is inherently a better color.

you're spending the next four years of your life there...decide for yourself

Is this a joke or something? You mention in various other threads that you're definitely going to Kalamazoo.

The prestige whores comment was rude. While perhaps not entirely a joke, I refer you to beefs comments and I would say while Kalamazoo is a nice college town (w. mich is ther too) Chicago is a top 10 university in this country.

All due respect, but that comment was very ignorant. And I am using the term ignorant in a very neutral way, not in a pejorative way -- i.e., it was uninformed by all the necessary facts, and probably by a good dose of life experience. There are many reasons why Kalamazoo might be better than Chicago for a student (even a very bright student who has been admitted to both). And vice versa, of course. Choosing the right college is not a function of which has the stronger reputation, except at the margins.

I don't understand why people are so intent that a higher ranked school is inherently better for an individual. Kalamazoo College is no slouch of an LAC in a very nice city (the city of Kalamazoo pays for the college education of every graduating high school student). It also has an incredible study abroad program. UChicago caters to a very narrow range of individuals seeking a very specific type of school.

If that's right for you, OP, then go for it. If not, Kalamazoo provides a much more typical undergrad experience. Plus, Western Michigan University is literally right next door.

I wish people would stop being so naively insulting about schools of which they have no knowledge.

Just because I say that I'm going to K doesn't mean that I will actually go; plans do change.

"I assume this is a joke."

I certainly do wish that you refrain from posting ignorant comments.

You're a joke.

There is no doubt that one student may find one more rewarding than the other. Kalamazoo is an environment where one is less likely to "fall through the cracks".
One is a top 10 Midwest LAC.
The other is a top 10 or so national undergraduate institution.
They both have the reputations of places where students work very, very hard.
