I just finished reading the Kaplan book for Biology. The book covered a ton of stuff and made it seem so hard. Is the Kaplan book a good predictor of what's going to be on the test? If it is, I might take something else.

yes, i think it's very good. the best probably.

ive done all of PR's and Dummy's guide (yea i know but i heard good things about dummy's) and its way easier than kaplans. Kaplans is hard to learn from imo, lacks illustrations (princeton has very good large illustrations of test matter) and is not a good review. I did not take the sat2 bio yet but i hope all the crap not in princeton isnt on the test.

Kaplan is the best for SAT II Bio.

I went through most of it, and I liked it. I thought it was nice and condensed (as much as possible for a subject like bio) and the practice tests were very realistic.

I got an 800 on Bio-M. Of course, it might depend on your memory and aptitude for the subject. Either way I definitely recommend Kaplan.

Kaplan is bs for SAT II Bio.

The tests are nothing like those on the real test.

Sorry to break it to you.

800 doesn't reflect book quality. My friend got 790 by reading Sparknotes online for an hour...

I found the tests to be realistic, some questions were very similar to actual ones on the test.

Kaplan is good as more of a textbook than a prep book.
PRs info/practice tests are more on the level of the real test.

It wouldn't hurt to know all of Kaplan though.

Then how abuot this,

Kaplan vs barrons?

I don't know about Kaplans but Barrons > PR
I just like Barrons better. Eaiser to learn from for me. Another thing is it really depends on the type of person you are. Some people can just read for hours and soak it all up while others need to draw pictures and take little quizzes.

My advice, get them all and try them all out.

It truly does depend on the person.

I'm going to do PR, then Barron's...see how that goes and how much bio I know from there.

I used Cliff's AP Bio, but I didn't really need to study after taking AP Biology.

Kaplans was somewhat close to AP biology difficulty, but it had some mistakes.
Barron's was not hard as usual, but had a bunch of extraneous info.
Princeton Review is the bare bones guide to SAT biology. If you can learn every single thing in Princeton Review, you might get an 800 barely.

personally i skimmed through kaplan and mcgrawhill and got a 760 (biology isn't exactly my strong point) and i though the kaplan test was harder than the bio sat that i took... however the version i took (june) had a horrible curve, which probably means that the test was easier than most...

go through your textbook and then use Kaplan's because it doesn't cover enough stuff but, Barron's covers too much and is a huge waste of time. I got a 780 by going through me textbook the night before, it's a good thing I did that!

yeah im using Barrons and its really good

they quizzes at then ends of each section really helps you.

only prob with barrons is horrible pictures and too much lab procedures.

yeah like the picture of a human that was half-woman and half-man!!!lol

good luck to anyone whos taking it!

i just took bio- E practice test on kaplans 04-05- got a 640 on it, (didnt read kaplans book though, and only took living environment as a freshman), how hard is kaplans practice tests compared to the real thing?

i had both books when i took it 2 years ago. i preferred the kaplan material, and the barron's gave TOO much material for the sat2's. and I also found the kaplan tests rather realistic. maybe it's me.
