I am a junior and I was just wondering how much does the Kaplan Prep Course influence your test score?

imo sat prep courses aren't as good as self studying (if you have the motivation to) so unless you're scoring kinda low I doubt it will help that much...only thing it will really influence is the $$+time you spend on the course.

^Agreed. (10char)

kaplan is bad. don't take it. spend money on PR or TestMaster rather :)

Kaplan is excellent. I was in a private tutoring session and I was very happy with my score. If you want more info, PM me. PR is actually worse in my opinion, given the books I have read about AP/SATII tests and such.

dont take Kaplan. Dont take princeton review. i dont know much about testmasters so i cant say. the only sat prep you should hire are personal tutors who can actually teach or local sat prep centers (there are a lot in california). i wasted 899 on kaplan and learned absolutely nothing. my friend also learned nothing from his princeton review prep class.

^Oh, wait. I agree, don't take the classes. But I think the tutors are worth the money if you are dedicated and/or don't want to discipline yourself to really effectively teach yourself. If money is a concern, it may not be worth it. But if you can afford it and are willing to do the work required, then it will be beneficial.

if you have self discipline, just check out the study books from the library and study on your own.
the only thing a tutor would do is "make" you do the work.

Thanks for your replies and i'll definatley check out the PR books.

unfortunately TestMaster doesn't offer courses in Boston that's why I choose PR
but don't buy PR book before you've finished RR, Grammatix, Barron and Maximize SAT

I think spending your money on quality test prep books is better than splurging it on a class.
