Kaplan SAT Grammar Question, need help

Hello! First of all, I would like to say I have been creeping on this forum for a few months and it has been SO helpfu! I honestly feel like this forum is what made my score increase on my practice tests. So first of all I would like to say thanks to anyone who has made some type of thread/guide to do with the SAT because I probably read it, and it probably helped me! Hopefully that'll show on Saturday when I'm taking my first SAT. :)

Anyways, on one of my Kaplan practice tests I need some help on the grammar section. I have the right answers, but could someone please explain to me why that is the correct answer?
Thanks in advance to anyone that replies!

I have a few guesses why those answers were the correct answers, but i have no justification for them. And an answer with no justification won't help me in the long run on the test on Saturday.
So anyone that could please help, it'd be really appreciated! :)

“Series” is singular so it has to be “was” not “were”. B.

Wrongful comparison. Our contribution is compared with last year. It should be “our contribution last year or last year’s contribution”. D.

It should be “infers to”. It’s an idiom. C.

“Includes” refer to the designers so it should be plural, ergo, it should be “include”. B

“Were” is referring to “benefit”. It should be singular. B

“Offers” refer to those restaurants, so it should be “offer”. B.

I’m also taking the test on Saturday. Good luck. :-bd

3 is a vocabulary confusion. The correct word is “refer” not “infer.”

Oh yeah. It should be refer not infer. My bad.

Thank you so much Hawkace and WasatchWriter. All of these pretty much had the same mistakes, so I just need to review them and I’ll be ready to go!

Also, thank you Hawkace, good luck to you too! I’m sure you’re going to do awesome based on the help you just gave me!
