Kaplan Test Prep (On Demand and Classroom)

Hi everyone. I'm an upcoming junior in high school prepping for the ACT and SATs.
I am aiming for a really good score on the ACT. Parents are expecting a 35; a 34 at least.
But I've tried some practice on my own and I'm not the best at standerized tests, but not horrible either. I've been going to the library and studying on my own over the summer and I feel like I have gotten a little better.

My mom enrolled me in two Kaplan courses; the ACT Classroom Course, which I will be starting in August, and the SAT Online On Demand Course.

I start the ACT classes in August, so I can't say anything about it yet, but I don't know if the SAT On Demand Course is really helping me.
I really want to get a good score on the PSAT and make the cut for the National Merit Final/Semifinals, so I decided to take this. Maybe it's because I haven't taken it seriously enough, but I don't feel like it's helping me. The instruction would be fairly straightforward, but the practice questions would be pretty difficult.

Has anyone taken any of these two courses? If so, how effective were they? My parents spent about $800 total on these two courses so I REALLY have to do well.

My son just finished the ACT classroom class. He is in a similar situation like you. I can tell you that you have to do ALL the online homework. I think my son will probably do fine by just studying on his own, Kaplan is just another way of studying, prep books are getting boring for him. so far he has raised his scores by about 5 points on the practice exams. Whether the prep course is helpful or not, really depends on how motivated you are. It’s basically a self-pace study.
