karate

hi, so i was wondering, for the last 7 years i have been attending martial arts and was able to reach brown belt. this is the second to last belt untill Black. Unfortunetely, even though i really enjoy karate, due to other reasons i wont be able to continue untill Black belt. For 7 years i have put in alot of commitment but was unable to reach the final step. Will colleges look down upon this and see that i “gave up” before black belt or will they see my commitment for 7 years? I know people will criticize me for only caing about college admissions for doing ECs but college admissions are coming up and i hope this wont worsen my resume. sorry my grammer is so bad today but ty.

Well, both are true. You did “give up” as you put it, before black belt, but prior to that you apparently had a 7 year commitment.

I wouldn’t worry so much about what other people think. People “look down” on things. Colleges mostly observe and make decisions based on the observations.

My kiddo did it for ten years, being the only non-adult 2nd degree black belt, achieved when she was 16. Was a senior instructor for two years. Gave it up because her varsity sports commitment and schoolwork crowded it out. No regrets whatsoever.
