This is amazing! Also Stanford has performed the best out of all other schools (even most countries) at the Olympics.
It is just really unique for a school to be top not only in academics and research but also sports wow

Ledecky can either become an instant millionaire or swim for the Stanford team. She can’t accept commercial endorsements and remain eligible for NCAA competition. Would she give up so much money just to swim with the team?
Missy Franklin did to swim for Cal. It may have cost her some millions. I applaud her spirit.
Just my opinion, but I think it is sad that the NCAA will not let an athlete do commercials and take endorsement deals and still participate in college athletics. I understand not letting an athlete play/ participate in their sport both professionally and at the collegiate level, but not letting them profit at all (after all of the money and time they and their families have put in to get them even close to that level, and the money, attention, and recognition that the top athletes bring to programs) is controlling and short sighted at best, and exploitative at worst. I am sure they have their reasons, but I do not think it is fair to the athletes.
I would not disagree, @KatMT.
