KCAI a good choice?

I applied to several schools. A lot of universities because I have an engineer and an accountant for parents and they don't understand, but the two art schools I applied to were SCAD and KCAI.
SCAD offered me the Frances Larkin McCommon scholarship for 60,000.
KCAI offered me a merit scholarship totalling 60,000.

I visited both. And quite honestly, KCAI fit better. But... is it a better college? I've heard some really bad things about the school and some really good things and I don't know what to believe.

I wasn't impressed with the design building, mainly because it well... sucks... but the work that came out of it looked promising.

Am I overrating myself by thinking I can transfer to The Cooper Union, or RISD after KCAI foundations?

Wow, your publication designs are fantastic. I'm not really familiar with KCAI, but I am familiar with SCAD somewhat, and I know its a good school (not NASAD accredited, but still I've heard good things). Wherever you decide to go you should have a leg up on most others, because I think your design is comparable to a lot of the senior exhibitions I've been seeing recently. If you would decide to transfer to any of those schools I'd say you have a great chance. (assuming your majoring in design)

May I ask what where the negatives you heard about KCAI? Now that you have decided to attend (from reading other posts) how do you feel about the academics, the design building etc. Do you still have misgivings?

Thanks for your time.

SCAD is SACS accredited which ensures the highest academic standards. The accreditation process is very rigorous. BTW, April Greiman attended KCAI. Greiman was a digital pioneer in graphic design; she spoke at SCAD a few years back.
