KCL vs NORTHEASTERN

Hi! I have an offer from Northeastern and Kings for Computer science and Management. Okay so these are my pointers.

  1. Finance is no issue: but the value from the degree matters a lot. I’d only go for a more expensive degree if its drastically different or the money I’ll be saving by not going there will not be able to get me the same knowledge.
  2. Course: I am really interested in computer science, but I don’t know to what extent I like it.
  3. Future plans: I am not planning to do any masters if I go to the US. But if I go to the UK I might do a masters degree in that extra year I’ll save. Also, I will be joining family business after my under/post grad and am NOT looking for a job.
  4. City campus: I have rejected really good campus uni’s just because I wanted a city campus.
  5. Rankings really don’t matter to me. The uni experience should be good.
  6. My sibling is also in king’s and will be in his 3rd year If and when I join.

So here is my question:

Which university is worth the cost of it? Northeastern will cost be double of what King’s will cost me. Thats what I’m confused about. Is it really worth that much extra money? From my understanding North-eastern and king’s are not that different. The student experience/ culture is very similar in terms for social life and type of people. The only difference is northeastern’s co-op programme and the flexibility in the course. A co-op really doesn’t matter to me cause I will be joining the family business. Is that flexibility and type of education worth an extra $200,000?

My sibling in king’s really appreciates his student experience and want me to choose king’s . But I am really confused cause I always wanted to go to a US uni.

PLEASE HELP!

Also, people tell me that nothing beats US education. Even I agree, I would always prefer an American uni over a British one, but my issue here is that northeastern and king’s are really not that different. Had I got an offer from NYU or Berkley it would’ve been a no brainer.

Do y’all really think the education provided by northeastern is worth the extra $200,000, considering I have the same offer from king’s.

My son just finished his first year at Northeastern as a CS major. He loves it, that being said he know many kids that changed majors after first semester, mostly because of Fundies 1. Fundies 1 & 2 are required and difficult for many kids, my son hated it. If you are not sure you like CS it could be a unpleasant experience. I can’t speak on King’s.

I’d say it’d be quite a waste to go to Northeastern for this reason alone. Absolutely save the money here, at the end of the day what you take away from these schools in knowledge will not be that different. If you were looking for a job in the US postgrad there might be a case, but even then, this is a huge price gap. Go KCL.

I don’t see that northeastern is worth more than KCL, much less double, especially so as you won’t be on the open jobs market in the US.

If you want the American college experience, go on exchange to the US from KCL. Also, turning down a campus experience while saying you want an American college seems . . . odd. At least from an American point of view. Traditional American college experience = campus experience. Unless it is the continuous assessment method in US education that you love. But you could get that through exchange from KCL.
