I know its hard to find time to work out, but do u find the school's gym accessible and ok to use to keep in shape? Is it dominated by the super buff sports ppl or do u see all types of people in it? I go to a family gym now and take aerobics classes and i hope to continue in college. thanks!

at college its easy to use the gym. As a college student you have lots of open hours in your schedule, as compared to HS where you need to be on campus from 8-3 every day. So you bring a lock and use the gym, or go home and change and go jogging, whatever. Working out is great stress relief, too.

I go to Dartmouth, where about 75% of the students are in sports... so yes, here at least keeping in shape is DEF easy to do and a priority to many. Our gym is sort of small (being renovated/expanded in the near future) and available for student use with good hours. There are actually several gyms, which are available to all students. With the amount of walking you will probably do on campus, that only adds to your fitness. Also, here at Dartmouth we have lots of trails and a boathouse (as well as canoe club) to row, kayak, swim, canoe, etc. at your dispense. We also have a pond that freezes over in winter, a climbing gym and a ski resort/mountain. Cool... if fitness is a priority, I suggest you look at schools out of cities... better facilities, usually (including outdoor)

We toured the gym at Mount Holyoke. Saw a lot of women on treadmills, exercise bikes and other fitness equipment. Our guide said this was a popular freetime activity.

I think that many colleges maintain separate facilities specifically for varsity sport athletes, with one of the primary advantages being that normal folks like you will feel less intimidated by the gym.

At my school, everyone who works out in our fitness center is already...well...fit. But it's huge with a variety of nice machines.
