keeping residency in new york

I got accepted to university at buffalo as a transfer and plan on spending the remaining 3 years of my undergraduate and maybe my graduate years. my parents decided that they are going to move to florida and will be moving when im in my fall 2011 semester, i have been a resident for around 11 years and do have family who will remain up here if that matters. would i be able to keep my tuiton instate?

if it makes a difference i graduated high school in new york and attended a suny community college with resident tuition. if i transfer my drivers license and other information to my aunts house asap would that make the process easier or would i be screwed when my dad files taxes next year? i mean i have proof of residence for almost 20yrs(new york born, the 11 years in my first post was how long i lived in my most recent house).

Since you’re an adult, and you are currently a New York State resident, I don’t see that you have an issue. What matters I think is that you are a New York resident when you start college.

[SUNY: Residency](http://www.suny.edu/student/paying_residence.cfm)

In practice the situation that you describe – that parents move after their child enters college occurs with some frequency. I don’t see what changing your “home” address makes any difference.

This said, I’m not a lawyer. Simply contact the school and ask.
