ok so i've been accepted ed (yahoo!) and my mid-year reports are being sent out next week-- does that mean i can finally relax? or does princeton see our final grades too? i dont intend to fail but might not work quite as hard anymore

also, i want to drop one of my classes. its not academic- just an art class, but will that look bad, like im slacking off now?

will they actually turn me down now for dropping classes and slipping grades?

It depends how much your grades slip. If you get a few B's, or even a C, Princeton will not care. But, if your 4.0 GPA suddenly becomes a 2.5 or lower, they might start seriously questioning the extent of your academic commitment.

but its causing scheduling problems. basically things would be more convenient w/o it. and i intend to join an art club to compensate. will that be ok or would they be upset that im even thinking of it?

I emailed uaoffice about a course change a week ago, but I still haven't gotten a response. Tiger!, what's Dean Rapelye's email address? You can PM it if you like.

Eek, a c! I totally know what that's like, though -- I haven't been able to keep up in my US Gov class since the start of the semester. But it's not really a difficult class -- I just had so much going on over the summer that I couldn't finish the summer busywork. (64 current event clippings and reports, 1 page each, in specific categories: Constitutional Underpinnings, Public Policy, Civil Rights, etc. plus essays and other nonsense.)

Drop the art class. Take something Pass/No pass. Get a couple B's or even C's. It's okay. Turn off that worry switch in your brain that's been on throughout the college admissions process. You're done. It's over. You've won. They won't kick you out unless you really, really screw up.

Agreed. Do your best, but the pressure's off. Your life is no longer governed by what you have to do to get into college. Do what you want to do now. Learn what you want to learn. I'm not saying turn off your brain, but turn off the worry switch that provided the stress (okay, eustress) throughout high school. In the words of Han Solo, "You're all clear, kid! Now let's blow this thing and go home." And you've got the force on your side.

Well, acceptance was contingent on the courses you listed on the application, so you should inform Princeton about any changes (even small ones) just to be safe.

Obviously none of the changes we're talking about here would cause a problem, but you still should tell Princeton so they're not suprised when they look at your Mid-year / Final-year report.

So I think I'm going to get an absolutely terrible grade (maybe even fail) in one optional honors math thing im doing, get one B-, one B+ and 4-5 A/A+. Cause for concern or not?
