Keeping up grades

Ack. So, I was admitted REA a week ago to Stansky, and, like, I know I shouldn't really be worried about this at ALL, because my first quarter grades were very good, but I'm just wondering either way...what kind of grades can/would get you rescinded? I don't want senioritis to hit me too hard.

I was wondering about this too. Just ask your admissions officer. I would think a few B’s wouldn’t kill you, but if you’re pulling straight C’s, that just might be reason enough to rescind.

I would think several B’s are excusable, especially in AP/Honors/IB classes.

yea I think multiple Bs or a C wont kill you, maybe even a D in calculus would be understood by the adcoms, but more than that, probably not

Any Stanford students have a more deffinative answer to this question?

I don’t think there is a definitive policy, or at least not an explicit one. I’ve personally never heard of anyone getting rescinded for academic reasons (I did hear about a guy who got rescinded for disciplinary reasons though).

I’d aim for an AB report card, with mostly As; maybe 2 or 3 Bs would be fine. I’m sure you could have even lower standards, but it’s best not to get TOO out of touch with hardcore studying, as it’ll come back full steam next year.

I asked my English teacher who is a Stanford grad. She said that she had a student who was pulling mostly Ds and Fs at the end of his senior year. She said Stanford threatend to rescind his admission and she had to write a letter vouching for him.

I’m thinking I’ll let my 91s turn into 85s. I went in with a 3.8 GPA, so I’m going to get a 3.8 this year. I have a 3.9 right now and some of my classes are frankly too easy, so I might actually end up with a higher GPA. AP Statistics is killing me because since it’s such an easy course, stupid mistakes are marked off more heavily. And AP Biology, but obviously, I’m not worried about getting a B there - they really shouldn’t complain about that.
