Keeping Your Stuff Safe in Dorms

How do people keep their stuff safe in dorms? Do they buy safes? This year will be extremely hectic since nearly all dorms will be triples. What is the optimal way to ensure that one's stuff is not stolen? How do students protect their textbooks and clothes from being robbed? I did not see much dorm security. It seems to me that anyone can get into the dorms.

Stop being so paranoid!

Keep your door locked. If your roommate makes a habit of leaving it unlocked when they leave, yell at them. If your roommate loses their key and tries to get the other roommates to leave the door unlocked, tell them that's not okay. The end.

Textbooks and clothes will NOT get stolen. Computers and game systems get stolen if left unattended or in an unlocked room; clothes and books do not. 99% of the "thieving roommate" stories I've heard turned out to actually just be people misplacing stuff and blaming it on their roommate(s).

Sorry for my paranoia.
