Video: Keith Olbermann ’79 vs. The Cornell Review and the CU College Republicans Cornell Insider

lol, is that a surprise?

I’m actually very liberal, but I cannot STAND people who blindly follow one ideology. It’s like, once someone defines him or herself to be part of a group (liberal, conservative, etc), they go along with EVERY policy of that group without even thinking for themselves - like lemmings almost. I truly believe if the liberals started saying that we should all have only 9 fingers, about 1/3 of America would have 9 fingers.

As for Olbermann - he makes me sick. He just spouts vicious rhetoric against anyone he doesn’t agree with, and I see no difference between him and the “angry conservatives” he rails against. He thinks it’s wrong for conservatives to hate on gays, and his response is to call conservatives stupid and constantly attack them in much the same way.

As I said before, he makes it hard for me to admit that I’m liberal. I used to be proud to tell people I’m a liberal, but now I say independent because of the connotation idiots like Olbermann have given the word.

Good point. Shouldn’t have been shocked.

^ not all conservatives are “anti-gay”, not all liberals are as hateful as Olbermann, there is never one way you can describe any group of people. That’s the biggest problem we have right now - I’m sick of soundbites that apparently label large groups of people. Bill Maher is another hateful person…and Cornell graduate. He’s certainly welcome to his opinion, but he doesn’t have any respect for the majority of Americans who go to work every day and go to church on Sunday’s.

Of course there’s not one way to describe a group…my whole point is that I hate the fact that one person can give a whole group a label. Unfortunately, that’s the world we live in, and Olbermann gives liberals and Cornellians a bad name. I wish he went somewhere else for school…

Shows what a diverse place Cornell is, we’ve graduated Jerks clear across the political spectrum.

I am so glad that Olbermann did not feel that he had to change who he was just for this event.

So weird to me that people intermix political positions with personal behavior. Jerks come in all shapes sizes and beliefs, and that’s especially true of the Opining Class.

We do a great job these days of pretending that the people who talk a lot on TV about politics are heavyweight political thinkers instead of entertainers.
