Just got an email that my daughter has been admitted to Kelley Business at IU. She really wants business at Illinois since both brothers are engineers there, mom and dad went, etc. but her counselor feels she might only be accepted to DGS. I fear she will pass up business at IU just to be at U. of I.

I'm not going to know which way to steer her if she gets DGS at Illinois; damn. Any thoughts on Indiana or Kelley business school that we should keep in mind?

i would think if she got a direct admit into Kelley she would have a good chance of being accepted into business at UIUC. If however she is not accepted into business at UIUC, she should definitely consider accepting the offer at IU, because it is next to impossible to transfer into business at UIUC later. Kelley is an exceptional business school, and not much more expensive that UIUC in-state.

I agree with you that transferring is extremely difficult and she would be getting the $9,000 academic out of state scholarship at IU. She’s definitely in the middle 50% for U. of I. business but I heard it is much easier to be admitted to Kelley because so many fewer are applying. My guess is a deferral and we will be waiting until February!

Middle 50% of the stats quoted by the school for students or out of everyone applying? If it is the former, that would imply that she has a pretty good shot at getting in considering that she would have better stats than roughly half of the rest of the people who get in.

She has an ACT composite of 30 and is hoping for a 31 on Sept. test. She is top 10 percent in her high school - tough class load and very good essays and EC’s. Her math subscore is only a 27 but she is interested in marketing which is not too heavy with math courses and she can definitely handle them. Her counselor is worried about her math subscore; therefore…so am I!!

My daughter received her acceptance to IU this week. I read that you hear later about admittance to the Kelley School of Business. How soon after you received your admittance email did you receive the one from Kelley?
