To be directly admitted to the Kelley school you need at least a 3.8 on a 4.0 GPA scale weighted, and a 1360 SAT or 30 ACT. To petition you have to meet one of these requirements and be “slightly below” in the other. My GPA is a 3.95, but my SAT score is a 1200 super scored (1190 and 1180) I didn’t take the ACT. What are my chances of being directly admitted off the petition? I’m in a couple business clubs and do extracurriculars. People who have heard from the petition so far, what were your stats and were you admitted or not?
You should still do it, but I’d say the 160 point difference on the SAT will really hurt your petition
Can’t you prepare for the January SAT and appeal to admissions to allow you to submit a score late? I just feel like that’s a better route than petitioning right off the bat.
Yeah that might be a better route but I’ve taken the SAT 4 times and my best scores were the 1180 and 1190 so I don’t think it’s going to go up much more.
It can’t hurt to try, but a 1360 is the 95th percentile, and a 1200 is 81st (1190 is 80th). So you probably don’t qualify as being slightly below in the SAT category. If you are having trouble raising your SAT score, why not take the ACT and shoot for a 30? Keep in mind a 30 on the ACT is also the 95th percentile.
D was admitted via petition. 4.16 W and 27 ACT
@dadof1 when did your d petition? how long did it take to get a response?
Definitely try the ACT. I thought the English sections on the ACT were significantly easier, and the math was about the same. I did a couple points better on the ACT than my SAT equivalent, and probably could have done even better if I prepared more for the science section. You have until April 1 to petition, so you don’t have anything to lose.
@oldtown348 D petitioned prior to the Dec 1 priority deadline. Took about a month to receive a response.
Do you get a notification about the petition via your IU email? How do I set that up
