Kelley Class Style

Hi, I am a direct admit at Kelley, but I am also considering Farmer School of Business at Miami University. I want to know the class and teaching style of Kelley at IU. I learn best in a collaborative/ group-work class style, and Farmer has made it clear that this is the style they choose. Is Kelley the same way or are most of the classes more lecture- based? Does it depend on the class?

There is a lot of collaboration and group work in some classes, and none in others. It really just depends on the class, but Kelley is known for I-Core, and everything in that class is group-based. For example, I took honors business presentations and honors computer in business and they both had a lot of group work, but other classes like accounting have no group work

@iubaccounting Thanks for the response. An inside perspective helps. Do you have a preference of teaching style? Do they support that at Kelley? Do you find one more difficult to succeed or thrive than another? Also this is a little unrelated, but do you find that you have sufficient individual attention? I’m not sure if that’s something that you like or care for, but it is a thought that is going to affect my college decision.

I don’t really think much about teaching style but I guess I prefer lecturing more than most people. I have no clue which learning style does best at Kelley. You can always get individual attention by going to office hours or just by talking to the professor after class, but most professors aren’t going to seek you out to give personal attention. I would expect it to be that way at most colleges. I have only taken 1 class (business presentations) where I felt like I needed personal attention, and I was able to get it
