Kelley Direct Admission

I just received my DA email yesterday! Does anybody know when the financial aid package and scholarships come rolling in by any chance? Did anyone get any financial information back yet?

@djin25 Congrats! can you share your details please? Did you meet both criteria and did you apply before Dec 1?

My son got accepted on 11/21 and was given a Dean scholarship of $8k a year with that acceptance letter and then was admitted to Kelley this week.

@ugradbiz It’s typically pretty tough to get any more scholarship money than either the Provost’s or Dean’s scholarship (which you should already have heard about). It’s possible to get more but I wouldn’t count on it

@genuine77 Thank you! I had a 3.97 weighted, and a 1420 SAT. I was honestly surprised considering my GPA was lower but I guess my SAT scores and my EC’s and essays made up for it. I applied before Dec. 1. I think I applied on like the 30th.

For those students who got accepted at IU Kelley, make sure to go to the Kelley Direct Admit weekend. Don’t miss out. It is very impressive and a game changer. Daughter is a F at IU Kelley and also in Hutton. Loves it. She would have never chosen IU if she didn’t attend the Direct Admit weekend. Go Hoosiers.

@iubaccounting Thanks! Ah ok. I got the Dean’s Scholarship of $9,000 upon admission! I did the SSA and we shall see if I get any other scholarships. I don’t qualify for financial aid so I’m just trying to find ways to make it a little less expensive for my parents.

ACCEPTED!!!

took both tests (submitted both):
SAT 1320
ACT 23 (science really brought me down, I got an 16 lmao)
GPA 2.8 unweighted, 3.4 weighted (really loaded my schedule with APs, junior year sucked! Ended with hella 89s rofl)

Really small private school in Pennsylvania, I think my essays were pretty good. My letters of rec were probably okay, I had a really good relationship with my AP chem teacher so I am guessing she really talked me up to the admissions office
ECs: I was very involved at my high school. President of numerous clubs: scrapbooking, curling, asian cultures, conspiracy theories. Captain of the JV swimming team, treasurer of senior-high at my Latter-Day Saints church, not much school spirit tho never went to a f-ball game haha but excited about what Indy has to offer in that category

So humbled and honored to have this opportunity, can’t believe I got in! Hoosier daddy?!?!?!

Congrats! When did you send in your application? @kevchong11

I applied 11/13 and wanted to know when I can possible get a decision. I should be a direct admit with a 1490 SAT (did not submit), 35 ACT (submitted), and a 4.4 GPA

@ugradbiz Your stats are very good, so there is probably a good chance you get one of the Hutton Scholarships for a few thousand a year. If you are an underrepresented minority, make sure to apply for the Fry Scholarship. If not, you probably won’t get anything more than Hutton.

@iubaccounting A few more thousand a year would be great! I live in California so I’m just trying to get the cost of IU as close to a UC as possible. Yeah, I’m white so I will not be applying for the Fry Scholarship but a Hutton Scholarship would be perfect. Thanks for all of your help.

@ugradbiz Don’t forget small town Bloomington is much cheaper than California.

I just received my acceptance to Kelley via email. Good luck everyone!

Congrats @college4747 !

I am a junior in Montgomery County, MD and I have been researching a lot on the Kelley School of Business. It seems like students there are very prepared for their careers. It also doesn’t hurt that I’ll get 36 or 39 AP and IB credits if I get admitted! I was wondering if I have a chance at direct admit with a 3.8 weighted (before end of 1st semester this year) and a 32 ACT (retaking in February). I also wonder if I am eligible for any scholarships as I am a URM? Does my incoming credit amount lower my tuition in anyway?

@bigboyk_ You’ll definitely get some scholarships, but IU might still be pretty expensive for you since you are OOS. You might be able to get these scholarships as a minority:

You should also be in the mid-high range of the Dean’s scholarship:

I think your GPA might be too low to get Fry, but it’s definitely worth applying for if you apply to IU. Having a lot of credits allows you to register earlier for classes and might allow you to graduate a semester early, but you still have to pay the same tuition per semester.

Based on this page, you should be DA. https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/undergrad/admissions/future-freshman.cshtml

From one URM to another, definitely look into the Fry program if you receive an invitation. Congrats on your stats!

@MatthieuPicard @iubaccounting thanks so much for your help! Can’t wait to become a Hoosier. Another option can be paying the full rate for year 1 and then working really hard that year to qualify for Kelley scholarships for kids who are already there. There are so many once you get in as well. I forgot to mention that my weighted is a 3.8 now but that was before the first semester ended last week. I have taken 6 AP/IB classes and expect a 4.32 weighted, and even higher next semester. One thing that can help for fry is that I am being nominated for the posse scholarship in the DC area and even if one doesn’t get it, posse sends your name to other schools saying that a person was a finalist. That could swing a decision by the committee because they’ll see I was close to getting a scholarship to a business school of a similar caliber with the above stats.

@iubaccounting @MatthieuPicard I think I’ll look at graduating a semester or even a year early and then taking an internship instead of a 4th year. I saw that for fry, they recommend a 4.0+ weighted GPA and a 32+ ACT, and my weighted will go up, so it won’t hurt to try. I also write essays and interview very well. We’ll see.

A few final questions: can I please get info on the KLLC and whether it’s worth it? When is the early action deadline and when is the common app open for IU? Do you think that the da grade standards will go up?
