Go ahead and petition now for direct admit. The earlier the better. Kelley does not notify students who do not meet the requirements, so you will not hear anything from them if her scores are below one of the thresholds. It is not unusual to get accepted if you are close in one of the categories. You have nothing to lose by applying, and being a direct admit is way less stressful than applying freshman year.

I agree with bthomp1. She coud also consider taking either the SAT/ACT again to get her scores up. If she can include a recommendation letter from one of her teachers who knows her well, along with the petition that might help too.

My daughter received her acceptance letter to IU a week ago. She just meets the requirements for direct admit if they take her weighted GPA. Does anyone know how long it is taking for Kelley to send out its acceptance letters?

If she does not meet all the requirements she will not hear from Kelley. But to petition she has to meet atleast two of the three requirements if I am not mistaken.

It takes a while, because even though there are specific requirements, the application needs to be sent to Kelley admissions. I feel like last year it was around 4-6 weeks.

Slightly off-topic, but for those of you who have heard, how were you notified (for just regular admission to IU)? E-mail? Snail mail? Or did you just keep checking the IUB web site? DS has had his application in for. . . oh. . . maybe a month now. He still has that “you’ll hear from us in 4-8 weeks” thing up on the status page.

I remember the day I got in (or maybe it was a day or two after, but I checked it pretty regularly) last year I checked the status and that was how I originally found out, but I then went to check my email for general purposes and there was an email from the admissions office there. So you can just wait on an email, or you can compulsively check the website. I found that both work equally well.
