racquetdad, I don’t know of any special programs for finance majors who want to specialize in corporate finance, but the link below has recommended courses for areas within finance.

<a href=“Finance | Finance | Indiana Kelley”>Finance | Finance | Indiana Kelley;

In addition to the two finance classes all finance majors must take (F303 Intermediate Investments
F305 Intermediate Corporate Finance) they recommend these three:

F307 Working Capital Management
F402 Corp Financial Strategy and Governance
F408 Real Options and Strategic Capital Investment

Don’t be surprised, however, if your daughter does not get an opportunity to take F408, as I don’t think it has been offered for three or four years, and even then it was a summer class.

Instead of taking F408, your daughter might take G345 Money, Banking, and Capital Markets. G345 is I think the only upper-level class that can be applied to the finance major that can be taken before taking Icore. The only prerequisites for G345 are E201 and E202. A lot of accounting and finance majors take G345 second semester of sophomore year, which gives them more options for finance and accounting classes after Icore.

Also, if your daughter does not major in accounting, as a finance major she must take A310 Management Decisions and Financial Reporting and A324 Cost Accounting. These two classes can also be taken before Icore, with A201 and A202 the prerequisites for A310 and A324.

A lot of accounting majors also major in finance, and I think the corporate finance track is the most appropriate for them getting jobs in the public and private accounting (and accounting majors need only two extra classes to get the accounting/finance double major compared to the accounting major alone). Lots of finance majors, however, do not major in accounting, as accounting is not for everyone. Not a bad idea, however, to get one of the two required accounting classes out of the way early. A310 and G345 are a couple of good ones for finance majors to get out of the way sophomore year. Of course, you have to have completed the prerequisites by the end of fall semester of sophomore year.
