Kelley Housing

Hello, anyone planning to apply for the Kelley housing option? I was wondering what other options you would recommend for me if I am not accepted in the KLLC? I am not familiar with the campus yet and would like to be close to the business school. Air conditioning is also a must! Thank you!

I’m not sure if the housing application will change due to all the issues that have happened this year, but you can’t select specific dorms. You can apply for the KLLC which will be in Eigenmann, but if you don’t get in, you can just choose neighborhoods. I would suggest either northwest or central due to their location. Other than that, it really doesn’t matter since you can’t choose specific dorms. You’ll be fine in any dorm.

With 2/3 of the NW neighborhood offline, your best bet would be central neighborhood.

This year’s housing application is preferenced by specific dorm, not neighborhood. Sounds like a change from prior years.

Yes, that is different. Lucky kids.

This is first year they can PREFERENCE of a building. Note the word preference, that is not a guarantee. Due to the mold issues there are a lot of people who want to be sure they are in newer or renovated buildings this year. Actually the closest buildings to Kelley will be Wright - really old and no AC but central and also the Teter buildings which have had mold in the 3 that are going off line in May and no idea about mold testing in the 2 coming back online after some updates. As a freshman your classes will be all over campus, not just the business school. If you learn to manage the commute, grab a bike or a motorized scooter or navigate the bus schedule you can get anywhere. Briscoe will be the only dorm open in the Fall in Northwest and while close to athletic venues will be kind of isolated with the planned renovations taking place at Foster and McNutt which you have to walk through to get down the hill to Kelley and main campus. If you want the newer or nicest buildings, can handle an extra 10-15 mins in your commute to Hodge and price point is not an issue, go for something in the Southeast neighborhood. Close to 3rd Street where many academic buildings are, close to Mother Bear’s and CTS tutoring, places you may end up at :). The KLLC will be in Eigenmann next year - a mid-low range price point tower where the windows don’t open above the 3rd floor but it does have AC.

Thank you, this is all great information. I will be visiting this weekend with my family for direct admit day. It will help to see where the buildings are located!
