I know a windows pc works well for K201/204 and other business needs; but I had my heart set on getting a Mac. I know I can use Bootcamp to run windows on the Mac, but is there a reason I will regret this?

K201 professors are very strict in saying that you can only use PC’s; no modified version of a Mac will be compatible. However, if you’re dead set on a Mac, get it. There are computer labs everywhere on campus with the right resources for you.

I used a macbook that was bootcamped for K201. Personally it feels more effective to use a desktop when it comes to studying for K201 and doing Graded Projects. I used my macbook when I really needed to study and couldn’t go to a computer lab. You’ll be fine.

Thanks. I think I will take a chance and get the Mac with bootcamp or parallels. Worst case, I use campus computer for K201. Wish me luck.

I’d recommend using campus computers for K201 even if you have a PC. There’s probably plenty in your dorm, so it shouldn’t be too inconvenient.

You can easily get by using a mac book as a Kelley student. In fact, a majority of Kelley students have Mac-books, including myself. For K201/X201, I would recommend using a computer lab since the software will be the most appropriate for the class. I think the majority of dorms have a computer lab in it so you shouldn’t worry about it being inconvenient.
