Hi I’m an incoming freshman at Kelley in the fall and I plan on Majoring in Finance and Professional Sales with a comajor in Business Analytics with a minor in Spanish and Sports Management with the hopes of working for a team someday but an open mind. I know it’s a lot but I made a four year plan (because I enjoy that stuff) and found I can make it all work with the AP credit I have and taking finite and science this summer and icore in the summer later. I do have a couple questions
- are there certain classes one must take for Kelley honors? Or is it just gpa? I currently am taking K204,T134, SPH m211 and 328, Hon 232, A100, m119 this semester and will do other icore pre reqs (honors version prob) next semester
- What kind of credit do you get for study abroad? Do you get finance credits or is it more arts and humanities
- Are the majors/minors good for the sports management industry? I already know/have read all the stuff about Mark Cuban and the limited jobs/ little pay it does not daunt me

You have to get a 3.7 GPA and take at least 26 credits your freshman year to be considered, but you can still be denied if you reach those numbers. Also, you have to take I-Core during the fall semester of your junior year if you are in Business Honors, so your plan wouldn’t work if you want to do the honors program.

I have no idea on questions 2 and 3 except that sales would probably be a good major if you want to work in the sports industry, because your job would likely be in sales.
Do you plan to graduate in 4 years? I took a quick look at the requirements for all of those majors, co-majors and minors and there is little or no overlap and quite a few credit hours! Finance 27 cr, Business Analytics 15 cr, Sales 21 cr, Sports Mgmt 21 cr, Spanish 12 cr - that’s all in addition to required gen eds and Kelley core requirements. I don’t think it’s possible to finish all that in 4 years, especially if you include study abroad.
My daughter studied in Barcelona spring semester junior year through the CIEE Business & Culture program. She is Kelley Honors with Finance major, Tech Management co-major and Spanish minor. So you would be going for one more major and one more minor than her! With the CIEE Barcenlona B&C program you have to take at least 1 Spanish class and 1 humanities class. She saved one of her A&H credits specifically for study abroad. In addition, she HOPED to take 1 Finance required course, 1 Finance elective and 1 Management course. It didn’t work out, and she ended up with 2 humanities, 1 finance, 1 management and 1 Spanish. The 2nd humanities class didn’t fill any requirements. Now she will have full schedules both semesters senior year, where she had hoped to have a lighter load. With your plans, you wouldn’t have any room to take classes that do not meet any requirements. While she only has experience with the CIEE B&C study abroad program, I think it is likely that for any study abroad program you will not get the exact classes you need, either because they are not offered or they fill quickly.
