I am a subscriber to the US NEWS College Rankings and the kelley school of business is ranked 11th in the nation... tied with Cornell University (Ivy).. that's some pretty good ****.. . yeah IU !!

here are the rankings ( I am a subscriber but i'm willing to share it with my fellow hoosiers)

Indiana University - Kelley School of Business - 11th best undergradaute business for 2009

Ranking by each Business-Major

Accounting - ranked 8th
Entrepreneurship - ranked 2nd (tied with UPENN another ivy)
Finance - ranked 9th
Insurance/ Risk Management - ranked 11th
Supply Chain Management / Logistics - ranked 19th tied with bowling green
International Business - ranked 16th tied with George Washington University and University of Missouri -St louis

alpha_sniper... you might think it's meaningless but it is a HUGE decision factor for a student that lives on the east or west coast... it gives IU more credabilility & prestigieee... living at the east coast these new 2009 rankings will give the KElley school of business a better reputation academically and will be less known of a party/basketball school.

Iu has been tied with Cornell at 11 for the past two or three years, IIRC.

I agree with whoever said rankings were meaningless. As an OOS, I never really cared too much about these rankings, especially given the politicking involved in arriving at the results. That being said, I used them only as a very loose barometer for the quality of a school; I paid more attention to the specific strengths and weaknesses.

And though Kelley is one of the best undergraduate business schools out there, I would hold back from associating it with any sort of "prestige," no matter what the rankings are. Namely because I don't find the faculty or the students to be haughty enough to believe in such frivolous things.

IU's #11 ranking hasn't changed for years, this isn't a breakthrough of any kind. We've always ranked around these spots. IU has always had this credibility you're talking about and the solid academic reputation.

University of Illinois finished tied for 13th through 16th on the list, right behind Indiana University and Cornell.

The schools they tied with for 13th through 16th were Emory University (of Atlanta, Georgia), the University of Wisconsin (at Madison), and Washington University at St. Louis (Missouri).
