Kelley SA Help

Hey guys I’m a potential standard admit at IU this fall and I was wondering if my current schedule is safe and doable without too much stress on my time. After looking at past threads and grade distributions I was able to come up with the following:

BUS-A 100 (second 8 weeks)
BUS-C 104
BUS-T 175
FOLK-F 111
MATH-M 119
SPEA-V 100 (required learning center class)
SPEA-V 220 (required learning center class)

This schedule leaves me at 15 credits for fall in addition to 12 credits coming in from AP testing in HS. Just wondering if this is a safe schedule for standard admission at Kelley. I’m aware I still need to take K201 second semester along with a few other Kelley requirements. Any advice or information to adjust my schedule or potential advice for second semester classes to take would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

That looks good to me. A100 and M119 will likely be your 2 hardest classes to get a B in, but it is very possible to succeed in both. Both classes offer practice exams before each exam, so make sure to do as many of those as it takes to feel comfortable with the material. Also make sure to attend every class unless you have a major emergency. Calc will be especially tempting to skip because it will be in a large lecture hall and will probably not have attendance points. C104 will probably take up the most time, but you should get at least a B as long as you put in some effort even if you aren’t a great speaker. If you are a great speaker, it will be an easy A

For next semester, G202 is an easy required class if you have AP credit for micro econ, and PSY-P 101 is a good choice if you need natural science credit. If you are going to take micro econ on campus, try not to take it with James Self. I’d also recommend taking another double-counting class in the spring like FOLK-F 111 next semester to knock out your A&H and WC requirements. I took REL-A 210 and it was fairly interesting and not too much work.

Thanks for the advice it was extremely helpful. Just to be sure, I am currently enrolled in Folk-F 111 for the fall term should I drop it for spring term as you mentioned or is it manageable with the current schedule I have now for fall? I’m mainly looking for a doable schedule that will make an easy transition to the college environment without adding loads of stress on me as I am aware the standard admit process is a dreadful one.

Definitely going to take Psy-P 101 and REL-A 210 into consideration for spring. I’m bilingual so would you suggest taking a possible language class in spring as well or should I wait until later on? Lastly, my potential major is also accounting so I know I will have quite a workload ahead of me when pursuing Kelley. Do you have any suggestions on rushing Greek life for fall or spring term? Is it manageable to be successful in Kelley while going Greek in fall? Thanks again for your advice.

Your current schedule is fine. I just meant that you should take another class that fulfills the same requirements as FOLK-F 111 in the spring because you need 2 classes that count for A&H and WC credit in order to graduate. Don’t drop FOLK-F 111. I should’ve worded that part better in the first post. You might already know this, but here are the gen ed requirements:

If you take F111 and another class that double counts for A&H and WC, you won’t need to take any language classes.

As for rushing, I don’t have any recommendations. I did not rush, but I have heard stories about people having to stay up until 4 AM working parties and stuff. Rushing will likely decrease your chances of getting into Kelley, but I really don’t know how significantly.
