I’m currently a junior and am looking at schools to apply and Kelley piqued my interest.
However my GPA on a 4.0 scale is a 3.67. Also, my weighted GPA is a 5.1/5.0 (Our school reports the weighted GPA out of 5.0, BUT it’s possible to get a MAX of a 6.0 if you’re in AP/IB classes. As a result, many kids have 5.4/5.5 out of 5.0) and my school reports BOTH the unweighted AND weighted. So when I apply, will Kelley look at my unweighted GPA and reject me as a direct admit or would my weighted be fine? And if they do look at my weighted, do they convert that to a 4.0 scale or would I be accepted since my weighted GPA meets their requirement?
Also, what’s the last semester of high school that the Kelley School looks at your GPA? Is it 2nd semester of your junior year or 1st semester of senior year as well?
Thanks!
If your unweighted is not above the direct admit requirement but your weighted is, they will just go with the weighted.
Kelley looks at the GPA on the transcript you sent when you applied.
What did you get on the ACT or SAT? That’s another part of the direct admit process- qualifying GPA and a certain test score.
They will look at weighted. They should convert the weighted GPA to a 4 point scale, and the last semester they look at will be 2nd semester of your junior year, assuming you apply before 1st semester of senior year is over. Keep in mind that they will look at senior grades at the end just to make sure there is not a huge dropoff.
I assume a 5.1 on a 5 point scale would convert to a 4.0 or 4.1 on a 4 point scale, but I guess I’m not entirely sure. I would consider calling or emailing Kelley Undergraduate Admissions to get a definitive answer.
