Has anyone received their decision letter yet? It's officially two weeks into July and I'm starting to worry that my letter isn't coming. Also I'm a bit worried because my program is still listed as "Pre-Business" in SIS. Does this mean I've been rejected?

Here is what my SIS information indicates:

Bloomington
Career - Undergraduate
Program - University Div Pre-Business
Preparation - Finance BSB

If anyone applied for standard admission and is listed as "Business" instead of "Pre-Business", then it would appear that I've been turned down.

Or are you listed as "Pre-Business" until you start taking the upper-level classes? Does anyone know? I have been very anxious this month as I await decisions.

what was in the positive news?... i just recieved my acceptance letter and a little booklet like sheet saying that the kelley orientation was on sept. 20

Yes, the positive news was acceptance. In the letter I received the admission confirmation and two other stubs of paper regarding the induction ceremony.

barren field, didn't you have something like a 3.5 gpa after the Fall and Spring semesters? I thought you had a very good chance of getting in with a GPA that high. Did you take summer classes? Sorry about your decision. Hope you get in next time.

barren_field if you had over a 3.5 GPA you should have gotten in.. I know kids with 3.1 and 3.2 GPA's who got in... maybe you didn't fill the kelley requirements or they made a mistake?... I would suggest contacting KSB.. ASAP.

1ee I have contacted Kelley already and I have fulfilled all the requirements.
They told me the main thing that has held me back is my B- in M119 and my D+ in A100 (though I retook it during Summer Session I and did well and they said they DID take that into consideration).

This is why I have formally appealed their decision. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow, one B- denied admission, sorry to hear that. (won't count A100 since you did well on that in summer). This could be an indicator Kelley is getting tougher to get into even with a 3.5 gpa.

anyways, to keep your hopes up, Kelley has appealed admission decisions before.

the B- in m-119.. is alright.. but I think it's the D+ in A100... I remebber some of the upperclassmen and professors telling me to take A-100 seriously and that If you do well in A-100 you will do well in the Kelley school of business... I would appeal and in my essay I would talk about How I re-focused during the summer session and got a better grade.. i mean if you got anywhere from a C- to a B-.. that is bad considering that was your second time through and the 2nd exam is easier than the first.. but if you got at least a B I think you have a good shot of getting in...

LOL...1ee, why would I lie about something like this. I come to this forum to seek help from people and gather valuable information.

Yes, I got a B+ upon taking it the 2nd time so I hope that will be sufficient and I did talk about this in my letter. I had a 3.75 first semester, and a 3.3 2nd semester which was mainly brought down because of the D+ and the B-. So it has evened out to make my cumulative a 3.5.

mactonycw...You're absolutely right. It is clearly getting more competitive. I was told on the phone that some 3.7s and 3.8s were turned away this year. I don't know if that is true...but who knows. It is possible those applicants had one grade which ruined it for them too. I think Kelley likes to see consistency, and that's why they don't like to see grades below a B.

The induction ceremony invitation also went out to those who were admitted at the end of the Fall 2007 semester. I know since my son just received his invitation.

P.S. Congratulations, Waverian and 1ee304--and good luck to you barren_field with your appeal.

Yes, Kelley is getting far more competitive...just ask my friend who didn't get in with a gpa around a 3.2. He had a couple of C+ grades. Those minimum requirements they post about admission? It's clear that they're enforcing them now. When people say you better study hard, you should take their advice.
