I’m planning on majoring in business and my top school at the moment is Miami University (Farmer). My second choice was is University of Cincinnati (Lindner), but I heard IU bloomington (Kelley) has a very good business program. I live in Ohio which means I would have to pay OOS tuition for IU. I am also not sure If I would be accepted into Miami, I know I wont be a direct admit into farmers, but I would work very hard to get in the second year. The cost of attendance for UC and Miami are both about $30,000 for me, but for IU it would be around $50,000. If I do not get accepted into Miami what would you recommend? Cost is not a problem , but It would be nice not to pay the extra $20,000, but if it’s for a better education I think I’ll be the right choice.
If you can’t get into Miami, it is unlikely that you will get into IU. I would be careful going to a university that has business direct admit but you didn’t get in. Make sure that if you do go, that there is something else available as a fallback.
Ohio State should be on your list. Instate and excellent.
need some stats, im from ohio as well adn got some good financial packages from miami and smu. Ended up in dallas and our new bschool dean came from miami ohio.

@jamesk2014 I’m applying ea so hopefully i’ll help my admission. 26 ACT. 3.58/4 GPA. Should I retake the Dec ACT? i know that would be too late for EA but if I get rejected EA the ACT could be used for RD am I right? Thanks
@lostsenior4829 would recommend retaking the act - or apply ed as most schools are more lax on low act scores if they are 100% committed without knowing scholarships and such
IU business school is raved about in Indiana a degree from their would be very valuable in Indiana markets
For Kelley, you would need 3.8 (weighted or unweighted) and 30 ACT or 1390 SAT. If you have one of those, you could petition, but it’s not a sure thing. Kelley would work well nationally and places students all over and not just in Indiana.
Your odds of direct admit to Kelley are very very low AND it’s not worth the price to take that risk when you have excellent business schools instate (Farmer in particular, but also Lindner of course, and Ohio University- if you could bring your ACT to 28 you could apply to Business Honors, not to mention Denison’s Commerce degree )
When did you get your financial package from Miami? Just got the acceptance letter, no package details other than the scholars program comes with $2000 that will be added to any other scholarship.
