I recently applied to the Kellogg certificate program. From people who are in or have done the program, generally what grades (cumulative and prereq courses) do you need to get in? I know that a lot of people in my econ 381 class already dropped, and I heard its easy to get in once you tough it out past the pre reqs.

you need the 3.0 average in prereqs to be considered. I’d say if you have a 3.3 or so in the prereqs you’ll be fine.

It is true that the applicant pool to the certificate program tends to be self-selecting in that many if not most of the students who complete the prerequisite courses are accepted to the program. I completed the MA certificate, and from my experience, the FE certificate was more competitive in terms of GPA than the MA certificate. This is partially due to the fact that FE tends to attract more Weinberg students while MA tends to attract more McCormick students, and engineering GPAs can be deflated a bit. I would say you should aim for a 3.5+ for FE, MA may be more lenient. You should be working toward as high a GPA as possible anyway, as many elite firms will have a hard GPA floor at 3.5 for interviews, and other people you interview against will have a 3.7+.
