Has anyone else gotten an email from Kelly Writers House stating

"This is a way to make it clear to Admissions, from our end of things, that you've been proactive in reaching out to us, and that we hope if you're admitted you'll become part of our community.

Of course, this isn't an "automatic in"--but it can help." ?

It was a little ambiguous. I don’t know if it meant she had potential and they were supporting her getting admitted or if it was like well if she does get admitted it be nice if she joined our committee of writers.

I went to Penn and met with one of their recruitment officers for about an hour—we kept in touch after and I sent her a lot of different examples of my writing. It’s not something they screen after applications are sent in if that’s what you were wondering actsat!

No, it was more general. I guess the ones that got “candidate/student of significant interest” are actually being recruited while the email stating "This is a way to make it clear to Admissions, from our end of things, that you’ve been proactive in reaching out to us, and that we hope if you’re admitted you’ll become part of our community. " is more of an thanks for being interested and hope you get in and if you do get in don’t forget to stop in but we really not going to knock down any doors for you. :-(

@English2014 My D sent in samples of her writing too but was told by the asst director of recruitment that it would be placed in a file and won’t be read until after the admission application deadline passed.

yes that is what I meant @English2014 , are you guys talking about the recruitment officers for the Kelly House or the admissions officers for Penn as a whole??

@actsat2400 All writing/ e-mail contact has been through Kelly Writers House’s Associate Director for Recruitment. All writing samples were sent to her and she is the one who sent the e-mail.

This is the e-mail in its entirety:

"Dear xxxx,

Hello from the Writers House! I hope you’re well and you’re weathering this waiting game in the best way you possibly can. I’m writing to let you know that I have notified Admissions that we have been in touch throughout your application process, which will be noted in your file. This is a way to make it clear to Admissions, from our end of things, that you’ve been proactive in reaching out to us, and that we hope if you’re admitted, you’ll become part of our community.

Of course, this isn’t an “automatic in” – if only! – but it can help. We hope you’ll receive good news next month! Please let me know if you have any questions at all.

Mine was only slightly different, Judy—I wouldn’t worry!! I doubt they’d take the trouble to write the emails unless they had marked your daughter as a "candidate of interest.

Haha, as a worried-about teenage daughter I totally understand! Hopefully I’ll be able to read your girl’s work and she’ll be able to see mine at Penn! Best of luck.

@English2014 I hope that comes to being. You sound like a good, caring teenager. Less than a month to wait, so good luck and let me know your admission results which I am pretty sure will be ADMITTED.
