Very interested in working in Investment Banking after college. Location doesn’t matter so I’m cool with Charlotte, NYC, Atlanta, etc.
So, here is my question:
How does the assured asmisison work for KF? How many are admitted each year? If I don’t get in through assured admission, what is the acceptance rate for sophomores at UNC who apply to KF? I know about 350 get in but no clue how many apply.
Thanks in advance
PS: any insight on wake v unc for investment banking is appreciated
Can you not apply to both and wait and see or are you thinking of applying ED to WakeForest ? I think UNC takes a very small number of freshman direct admits to Kenan, while a majority apply during Sophomore year.
When we toured KF and met with a business school admin person, I recall her saying the sophomore admit rate was approx 50-60% BUT that was based on those who intended to go to KF up front. They have prereqs and many of the remaining 40-50% drop out as they don’t like intro accounting, etc. Typical weed out stuff. Wake is the same way and generally admits about 75% of the sophomore applicants (S attends). Takes hard work. Not a slam dunk at either but if you have the goods to get admitted to the school and you work hard, you shouldn’t have a problem.
Both place well for banking in the markets you mention. Probably more UNC kids because its a much bigger school (just sheer numbers) but they both have a great rep and place well with BBs and Super Regionals like Suntrust and BB&T.
The stats are pretty high for those admitted to K-F that are not direct admits. The average is around 3.5+ GPA. There are 4.0 kids that don’t get in. That said, they are expanding the business school since it is so popular. Check the K-F website as I believe they talk about the plan to double the number of students in the next couple of years. Also, from my Daughter who is a sophomore, there are direct admits that have a lot of trouble with some of the prerequisite classes that are weedout classes who ultimately don’t end up in the business school or have issues keeping the minimum GPA. There is not a lot of rhyme or reason or formula for the direct admits. Definitely one of my gripes about UNC compared to other schools.
