Anyone having any stats on the type of applicant who is able to get accepted into the Kenan-Flagler assured admissions program? OOS specifically if that matters.
I don’t think they publish stats for the assured admissions program, but we were told last year it was super competitive, that only 40-ish were selected and as an OOS (35 ACT, 4.1 GPA, 9 AP’s) my S was not selected. It was a deal breaker for him. The average (freshman) GPA for admission to Kenan-Flagler was 3.8-3.9? Btw, we were also told at K-F session that B school admissions are not dependent on residency at that point. Hope that helps.
Thank you very helpful.
My daughter is a Freshman and she stated the people she know that got assured admission typically had a hook such as some kind of business internship. It’s not just grades. You also need to keep a 3.2 GPA I believe. My advice is to AP out of Econ, Stats and Calculus. Evidently Econ 101 is kicking some of the assured admissions folks butts as a weed out class.
@jdogNC That makes sense to me and I think your advice is spot on. Those weed out classes might also be kicking the butts of freshman who plan to apply to business school and are trying to maintain an even higher GPA!
According to my daughter, it is kicking lots of butts for anyone taking it, including people that did very well in high school. For those thinking the AP route, just remember to take both Micro and Macro and score a 4 on each test. You have to have both to test out. To get into the business school, whether assured admission or when you are there has become more about business experience, interest and being an all around well rounded person. Add grades to that and it shows why it is ranked so highly nationally.
Where did he decide to go since it was a deal breaker?
