In addition to thorough vetting, both he & his wife had worked at the Kent School before moving over to St. Paul’s School.
FWIW St. Paul’s School & Kent have two of the most attractive settings among boarding schools & prep schools in the country.
An interesting difference is that Kent has PG students while St. Paul’s does not.
I went to Kent and on the face of it, he checks all the boxes. Experience, education, rowing, Episcopal, knows, and known to, the school. There’s a piece of me that was hoping for someone a bit more out of the box but I think/hope that he and his family will be a great addition to the community.
Wanted to circle back on my pot-stirring post #4. Unintentional really…I just looked at SPS Rector history and Hirschfeld’s tenure doesn’t seem out of line with more recent tenures. I think my comment was spurred by two things: 1. Tad Roach has been at SAS forever; 2. I met Mr. Hirschfeld (and liked him) at my older daughter’s revisit day…which was in 2011, but which to me seems like yesterday.
