Kent School Student-Ready to answer any questions!

<p>Hey I’m a Loomis student
Why Kent decide to end the traditional rival football game for the Spoon on Kent/Loomis Day?? Loomis kids are pretty disappointed about it!</p>

<p>Is the football spoon game cancelled this year?! I had not heard anything about it being cancelled but I have not seen the athletic schedule yet. I will have to ask about that when I get back to school.</p>

<p>Oldmacdonald-There is definitely a group of students who are from New York City and go home a few weekends a term. However, I do not think that there are strong cliques or that certain students are left out. I don’t think there are strong cliques because during the day, you interact with many people in classes and then afterschool you interact with different people for sports and clubs. You meet many people and hang out with many people. As long as you put yourself out there and are friendly, you will find lots of people to be friends with!</p>

<p>Heres part of the email we got back in April:</p>

<p>"I write with news of a change to one of Loomis Chaffee’s long-standing traditions: the football rivalry against the Kent School and the Spoon Game. Unfortunately, because of new rules in the Erickson League, the football league of which Kent is a member, Kent no longer will play Loomis in football bringing to an end the 65-year tradition of the Spoon Game that has special meaning and memories for so many in the Loomis Chaffee community.</p>

<p>To give you a little background, the aforementioned rule change requires each of the eight Erickson League teams to play all other members of the league. With an eight-game schedule, that leaves just one non-league game on these teams’ schedules. We had hoped that Kent would keep us on their schedule as its non-league game, even if that meant moving the Spoon Game to earlier in the season, but Kent has chosen to play Andover in its open slot next fall. However, we will play Kent in other sports and continue the tradition of playing for the Ward Bowl, which goes to the school that wins the most games (soccer and field hockey) between Kent and Loomis on the last day of the regular season."</p>

<p>Oh wow. That stinks! You got an email in April?!?! Wish I had heard about this from Kent!</p>

It caught my attention the fact that you say Loomis Chaffee kids are snobby. I have heard constantly about Loomi’s students to be remarkably down to earth and the contrary of snobby. When I visited Loomis I even thought the students looked a little bit underdressed. It gave me the impression of a student body that didn’t look like the typical Prep school type. That can be good and bad, because it gives the school a relaxed atmosphere, but kids with a dress code look more clean cut. My first impression of Kent’s kids was the contrary, they looked to me very much on the preppy, clean cut side, some even looked snobby, so I’m confused. Can you specify on that? Can you give me a brief description of what you think about Loomis students versus Kent students on that aspect? I am also looking at Loomis for next year. Thanks.

That comment was made 4 years ago. The student who made it may have evolved over time, and anyway, is now a college student; you are unlikely to get a response.
