Kent school

I got accepted into Kent. I was wondering what the atmosphere and campus is like (I did a skype interview) What should I wear to the Revist day? Whats a normal schedule? And how are the dorms? Sorry so many questions. Help appreciated, thanks!

I would like to know more about Kent too. I was also accepted after doing a Skype interview and am going to the revisit day.

Did you get the packet? because I only found out because they sent me an email but i didnt get to open the packet cause im not home… When are the revist days?

The Revisit Days for Kent are Monday, April 2 or Thursday, April 5. You need to register by March 23rd though to secure a place. There’s more information on the Kent website. For the Revisit Days, most accepted students usually wear clothes that are within the dress code since they go around with the students to classes: guys usually wear pants, tie, jacket and girls usually wear skirt and blouse or pants, top, and a blazer. Were you wondering what a normal schedule is like for revisit day or for everyday classes because those are a bit complicated? The dorms depend on which one you live in. I can vouch for girls dorms but not guys if you want more info.

thanks! and yeah everyday classes it seems reallly confusing

for the first few weeks, it is a bit confusing, but after that you get used to it. i really like the schedule because it has the right number of classes on the right days. the blocks on mondays, tuesdays, fridays and thursdays are a, b, c, d, e, f, g, and h. mondays and thursdays there is a conference block for the whole school. so for example, one monday the whole school will have b block free where you can go and ask your teacher questions. on thursday the whole school will have c block free. tuesday classes are 40 minutes long because chapel is in between b and c block. there are five classes on wednesday and three on saturday, all which vary by the week. thursday and friday there is advisory between b and c block where you see your advisor. monday there is morning meeting in the auditorium between b and c block. it is complicated hearing it like this and i probably didnt do a great job of explaining it but if you go to Kent, you will learn and adjust to the schedule easily. if you have any other questions feel free to pm me or ask here

bump 10char

how much time do you get into between classes? Are the rules strict for visiting the town? and how many actual academic classes does a student have a day (not including chapel, morning meetings or advisory periods)?

there are five minutes between every class, the rules are not strict for visiting town-you can go whenever you want as long as it is before 5pm in winter and 6pm in fall and spring. students have from five to seven classes a day, it all depends on what classes you take and labs and all

are there free periods throughout the day one can study? and over the weekend do the same time periods apply? like could you go to town at 7 pm on a saturday? Thanks again!

yes, it depends on your schedule. right now i have 2 free periods and a lunch, but when i took art survey last year i only had one. yes, town permission applies the same on weekends. you can go out later with parents or if you get permission from the deans to be out later for a birthday dinner or something

do you have any other questions?

I would like to know what it’s like to get accepted with a skype interview. With whom did you interview? Was it awkward? I only fear of skype-interviews because they maybe dont show how interested you are as opposed to visiting. Kent is one of my
favorite schools so if you dont mind me asking, do you play a lot of sports? I dont, so that might be a drawback for me. Also, were your ssat scores really high? And on your transcripts did you have any Bs? Thank you! I hope revisit day goes well!

our daughter has been accepted to Kent and Hill. She likes both schools almost equally, for different reasons. She will be going to Revisit Day to Kent on Monday and Hill on Tuesday. look forward to seeing other parents there!

Yup, a few of my friends’ parents will be there! I hope you enjoy Revisit Day!

Hi! I just went to my revisit day for Kent yesterday. I would be going in as a 4th form student, or a sophomore. I absolutely loved it. Many people consider it the “under-dog” school compared to such school like Deerfield, Andover, etc. But I applied to 8 schools, and I have to say, Kent was always one of my favorites. The atmosphere is just so amazing, calm, and comfortable. I felt as if I was already a student when I was hanging with some of my many friends at the school in their dorm. My shadow person was so sweet, and my friends roommate, and loves the school. Everyone was honestly so so nice, and the overall campus atmosphere was great. I had a tour of the new dorm building, and its unbelievable, and so big. Once it’s done, its gonna be amazing! My interviewer was so happy to see me, and it just felt very homey. When I checked in all of the advisors were like, “Oh, I know that name! Welcome!!,” and it made me feel like they really cared about me as a person, and as an applicant. It showed that everybody really took time to decide on your acceptance. I got waitlisted at other schools, some of which I am still staying on, just because I want the options if everything works out. I am a FA applicant, so its a little tough waiting to see what happens. If anyone has any questions, just let me know, I’d love to answer them. I know a lot about the school, and like I said, know and have many friends there! I also met a girl who would also be going into Kent as a sophomore, and if I go, we would want to become roommates with each other. Just shows that everyone who was selected is special and so nice! :)

Hi ars1996! I am glad you enjoyed your revisit day here at Kent on Monday. I too felt the same way about Kent and the homey feeling when I came for my revisit day a few years ago. If you have any more questions about the school feel free to ask or PM me.
