Kenyan Applicant Here, With Serious Anxiety over Stanford....

Hey guys, I'm applying ED to Stanford. A pretty high reach school, especially seeing as I'm from Africa and I'll be needing financial aid...So here goes nothing. What are my chances?
Academics: SAT 1:2200, 710 Math, 800 CR, 690 Writing
SAT 2: Math Level 2: 750, Physics:800
No GPA system in my country, but I got As my whole high school life, topped my class and stream all through, and became the fourth best student countrywide in the National Leaving Exams.

ECs:
Vice Chairlady of Choir Club, piano accompanist at school , 3rd best piano and recorder student in the Nation during the National Music festivals, arranged various pop songs for the Interhouse Music Festival, played treble recorder at Church Mass in School, was in liturgical committee
Chairlady of Academic Committee in School, and Science representative in class
Chairlady of the Bible Study Committee in school
The House-in- Charge of Kenya House ( kind of like House President)
Winner of National Prize for best biology talk on Sustainable renewable energy at Annual National Science and Engineering Fair
Second best student at annual and national Math Contest
Volunteer sunday school teacher when in school, and teacher teacher at disadvantaged school bordering slum area during holiday
assistant Church choirmaster, pianist and bass guitarist
Worked at a bank for 5 months( that might not be very relevant)

Yep, so those are my credentials. What do you think?
:-S

I think you have a very high chance to be accepted, considering your high SAT score and the fact that you’re applying ED. Super impressive ECs! Probably would suggest applying to safe schools? Good luck on your application!

Thanks so much @INDCollege‌ ! To be honest, I’ve not thought much about safety schools…I need to change that. I wish you all the best!

@Encibee‌ sure thing! what major are you planning to take?

I’m planning on Music Engineering…or Computer Science…or Electrical Engineering…Hahaha, let’s just say I haven’t made up my mind…What about you?

Hope you decide on a major soon! Im taking biomedical engineering. I actually have never heard of music engineering

Aah, biomedical engineering, cool major! Is is tied to your previous desire to do Med locally? Here in Kenya, we also have that system…basically, if you are clever and even contemplate doing anything other than medicine, you are “wasting your brains”. It’s sounds better when you say audio engineering, hahaha…It deals with recording, manipulating and producing sound, like tracks for a movie, or game, radio, etc. It sounded like the best bet to mix my music and Physics passion… :blush:

I’d say you have a very good chance! However, I’m pretty new to this site and I’m definitely not an expert (especially for international applicants). But I think if you write some good essays, you have a very good chance! :slight_smile:

Update-

@INDCollege‌ how did it go?
@daretodare1‌ how’d it go ?

@Encibee‌
did u get in???

@thekoolkid‌ I did…I’m still in a daze :slight_smile:

@Encibee. Congrats! You have definitely beat the daunting odds of winning the “golden lotto ticket” especially being international Kenyan. Enjoy the rest of your senior year! =D>

Thanks @gravitas2‌ !
What about you?

I am a Kenyan applying to most Ivy league
schools. I received my sat scores recently
and my stars waned. I have an 1800. As
much as colleges peddle rumours about the
application process being holistic and not
solely pegged on sat scores and what not, i
feel that they have scarred my chances of
getting into my dream school. Please advice
on whether I should still apply to these top
schools and if not, which ones would be my
best fit. I have a gpa of 3.94 and really
good recommendations, my teachers
showed them to me.

Hey Kenyan254- I’m really sorry for the late reply- I haven’t been on CC for ages- but how did it go?
