What kind of internet access connections are available? Where on campus? Are they reliable/available? I ask because somewhere when D1 was college searching a few years ago we read that Kenyon had some issues at that time. D1 dropped Kenyon from her list because of this. Now D2 is starting her college search, and I am wondering if I could hear from some current/recent students about this.

How would my kid get to/from Kenyon from the nearest airport(s) for school breaks? What airport(s) do people use? Are there shuttles at busy times? What if she is coming or going at a time that is not a holiday or break -- how would she get to and from campus?

Regarding your second question, the school is about an hour from the Columbus airport. I was told during our recent visit that are regular shuttles to the airport (as well as to Columbus on the weekends). I also saw flyers in the post office, etc. for cab services and other airport transport. It doesn’t appear to be a difficulty.

My son is a student there. Internet access - absolutely no issue at all. Campus is wireless.

Airport question - during busy times there is a shuttle. It seems very convenient and not expensive. My son has used it twice. There are also “other” ways of getting to the airport - I saw a sign on campus advertising airport rides for under $20 (posted by a student.) The only thing I would say is that if you want to get to the airport when it is NOT a break time, it might end up being a little more expensive. The other thing I would say is, there are people on campus with cars and getting anywhere has NEVER been a problem for my son. We live 8 hours away and he’s gotten to and from the airport with little or no inconvenience any time he has flown home. That’s been his experience so far. (By the way, he absolutely loves it there - wonderful school with great students and fantastic professors!)

Thanks, China! We will put Kenyon on her list to visit. I mentioned it to my mom tonight, and she said that her dad (so D’s great-grandfather) went to Kenyon! I had no idea…

Wireless internet access is in every building, though we could use more bandwidth.

There aren’t any shuttle to or from Columbus, except to the airport on the first and last day of vacations, and those cost like $30 of something. Even so, nearly half of students have cars, so finding a ride isn’t difficult.

Internet access is no problem at all, internet is fast enough for schoolwork but maybe not for intense gamers. The entire campus is wireless and there are also wired connections available in all the dorm rooms.

As an international student without a car I am always having to find rides to/from the airport and it typically costs between $15-30. Kenyon Coach is a shuttle service that runs to and from the airport/bus station for a couple of days before and after break and costs $16 each way. Kids are normally willing to help out with rides if you pay for gas + a little extra for their time, no one ever finds themselves stranded at CMH.
