Reflection
• Strengths: Showed a lot of interest, not only did I visit twice but Kenyon came to my school for the first time because of demonstrated interest by me and another classmate. When Kenyon visited I happened to be the only one there so I essentially got 2 interviews, one unofficial one from an admissions counselor at my school and one when I visited campus for the second time. I think also my extracirruclars were very strong; I have had many leadership positions and awards for my work in the arts. In my essays I really hit on my diversity and experiences as not only an African American male but as a member of the LGBT community.
• Weaknesses: GPA and test scores not as high as it probably could have been
• Why you think you were accepted: Based purely on scores, was I the most academically competitive applicant? No. But I think that I made up for it vastly in extensive extracurriculars, awards, strong recommendations, demonstrated interest that Kenyon was my top choice school, and just by showing that I was an interesting and diverse individual through my interviews and essays.
• Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted at Umass Amherst, Drew University, Middlebury College, Emmanuel College, Muhlenberg College; Rejected from Vassar College and Wash U St. Louis

General Comments: From the moment I stepped on campus I knew that Kenyon is where I belong. I’m so happy I was accepted and will be attending in the fall. Kenyon’s admissions staff and overall community was very friendly and accommodating. They were also incredibly generous with financial aid.
